The only way to shop Wal-Mart

As we all know Wal-Mart is the low cost leader and is a hard store to beat with coupons. By beat I mean get out of the door spending 50% of retail or less. I have found that if you use a coupon on nearly everything you buy you could relize up to a 30% savings at Wal-Mart if the coupons you are delt are good. So what do you do? simple you price match. Wal-Mart will price match stores within 60 miles at the check out register which in our area means they will price match every thing.
Sounds good right, well maybe when I price match at WAl-Mart I have found that the prices on better than half of the items on my list have already been lowered to beat the competitors price by a penny normally. Well that blows the price match but that price is what you were shooting for anyway so Wal-Mart has saved you the trouble. I would still bring the ad though.
The Items that will beat Wal-Marts prices are the loss leaders at the other stores. the only down fall is that Wal-Mart will not double coupons like Schnucks or Dierbergs. So there a couple of things to look at, first the coupon you are using, if it is $0.40 or larger Schnucks and Dierbergs wern't going to double it anyway. The other is the items that you may have gotten at Schnucks or Dierbergs. I buy my meat there and will include getting the loss leader in one of those trips. But if the loss leader was the only one or two items on your list for these two stores, Price match. The gas and time you will save is well worth it.
I enjoy the customer service you receive at Schnucks and even more at Dierbergs compared to Wal-Mart, The checkers at Dierbergs know me, talk to me as a freind, we even discuss coupons and they give me trouble for not using them. When I buy meat I normally do not have coupons but I am carring my murse just incase. I was a mystey shopper for several years and can tell you that Dierbergs has the highest requirments for their staff of any store out there and as a rule they live up to them. Back to Wal-Mart.
On this page I and hopefully you will be posting items that price match well at Wal-Mart. I will start a post each week with the items I find or notice while doing the coupon match ups and leave the post open for comment. I will work on getting the comments to remain open so every one can see them with out ckicking on the link. I do see everything in the ads I match but if a item does not intrest me it will look like less of a deal to me than it would to someone that wants or needs that item. That is why I am asking for input, Try as I may I will never please everybody with my post but a community of shoppers may very well cover everybodys needs. Dierbergs and Schnucks

I now have both the Dierbergs and Schnucks match ups posted. Looking through both, Dierbergs has a few better deals and it could pay to make a trip to Dierbergs because they will double 15 coupons up to $0.40. But if you have shopping to do at Walmart you can price match with both the Dierbergs and Schnucks ads. Both will have items that you should be able to save on Wal-Mart prices when price matching. At these two stores make sure that you compare the smaler coupons ($0.40 and under) to the larger coupons. Most of the smaller copons will be doubled and applied to one item, the larger coupons will not double and they normally are applied to two or more items making the larger coupons less of a deal.

A new adventure

As this page develops I hope to provide users with links to the sales ads of all the stores that their local Wal-Mart will match. This will take time and I will work my way through it as I do workshops in different areas or as users request information for their area. I will post updates and useful information in the middle bar where this post appears. In the left side bar I will post information on the Wal-Marts that are located south of the Metro Saint Louis area and in the right side bar will be the areas north of the Metro Saint Louis area. I will use Highway 70 as the dividing line. I am sure that there will be coverage conflicts along that highway 70 dividing line and will work through those as I run across them. So please use my forum to post request or problems that come up with this page and I will move to correct them as quickly as possible.
